BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County's fiscal watchdog says the county ended the year with a multi-million dollar surplus.

Comptroller Mark Poloncarz says a financial audit of the county's spending in 2007 revealed a surplus of 9.3 million dollars.

The comptroller says it's the result of careful budgeting and fiscal discipline.

Poloncarz says the county's general fund balance is also now up to more than 47 million dollars. That's up nearly 42 million since 2004..
