Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - A hearty group of supporters turned out in Erie County Democratic Headquarters Tuesday night to listen to what were for the most part pre-ordained results, but to worry a little bit about the final delegate count that Hillary Clinton may be taking to the Democratic National Convention.
Early results show Clinton, while winning New York State, split a good number of delegates with Barack Obama. The delegates are assigned based on results in each of the state's 29 congressional districts.
Early Wednesday, Clinton had garnered 127 delegates, Obama had 87, with several unassigned.
"Most of the states moved up their primary to have an impact. But the states that didn't move up their primary may actually have more of an impact, because it matters more now, who wins Texas, who wins Pennsylvania, who wins Ohio.," said Erie County comptroller Mark Poloncarz, a likely Clinton delegate.
An enthusiastic crowd of Obama supporters cheered loudly as the results came in for thier candidate. WBEN's Barbara Burns was reporting from both camps. Her report is available above.
