POLONCARZ RECEIVES ERIE COUNTY INDEPENDENCE PARTY ENDORSEMENT
Party Points to Comptroller’s Watchdog Role and Independence
June 15, 2009
Erie County Comptroller Mark C. Poloncarz has been unanimously endorsed by the Erie County Independence Party’s executive committee for re-election as the County’s independent taxpayer watchdog.
The Independence Party’s executive committee met over the weekend and endorsed several county and local candidates for public office. The party also endorsed Poloncarz in 2005 in his first campaign for comptroller.
Erie County Independence Party Chairwoman Sandra Rosenswie said: “The Erie County Independence Committee is pleased to once again endorse Comptroller Mark Poloncarz for re-election. Mark was ably served as the County’s taxpayer watchdog for the past three years and time and time again demonstrated a record of independence and needed oversight over the County.” She added “Under Poloncarz’s watch, the County has received credit rating upgrades, successive years of budget surpluses and its finances have stabilized.”
Poloncarz said “I am proud to accept the endorsement of the Erie County Independence Committee. I stand on my record as the taxpayers’ watchdog and am pleased that the party has recognized my independent role as the County’s chief fiscal officer.”
Poloncarz is also the endorsed candidate of the Erie County Democratic Committee and the Working Families Party.
