EC launches e-payment plan to vendors
Monday, November 17, 2008 - 10:03 AM EST
A new electronic payment plan instituted by Erie County through Bank of America will boost county revenues and expedite pay to vendors.
Comptroller Mark Poloncarz announced the “e-payables” plan Monday. He said the county will remunerate participating vendors through a credit card transaction, thus saving the county the expense of printing checks and sending payments via the post office.
The program, which was put together with Bank of America over the past six months, is voluntary to vendors.
The comptroller’s office estimates that, based on initial enrollment and more than $50 million in payments due next year, the county will be rebated nearly $500,000.
